WAMALA is an artist drawing inspiration from 90's alternative, R&B, trip hop, grunge, modern folk, gospel, blues, and rock. Turning to music as a source of solace and safety, he taught himself to play piano and began writing about the struggles of growing up as a young, emotional, mixed-race male in a hyper masculine white Australia.
